School Out? ANS Nature Camps Are In 

Summer campersWhen MCPS and LCPS are closed -- for one day holidays, Spring Break, and of course, summer -- students can head to ANS for our nature camps. Sign up for these upcoming camps: 

- School's Out Nature Camp at Woodend, Mon., Feb. 17
- School's Out Nature Camp at Rust, Mon., March 31
- Spring Break Camp: Spring Peepers, April 14 - 18

And, don't forget summer camp. Registration is open now. Sign up for summer camp today!  

It's Time to Act to Save Ten Mile Creek   
Jan. 27 Ten Mile Creek RallyThe Montgomery County Council’s worksessions on Ten Mile Creek are moving in the right direction, but they aren’t there yet in terms of fully protecting Ten Mile Creek. Another Planning, Housing & Economic Development (PHED) and Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy & Environment (T&E) worksession on Ten Mile Creek is scheduled for Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 2:15 pm. The County Council must act now to vote for a fully protective land-use plan for Ten Mile Creek. Email the Council Today

Nature Travel Logo Join us for our Nature Travel Potluck, Sunday, February 23 from 5 to 7 pm at Woodend Nature Sanctuary. ANS trip leaders, fellow travelers, and all who are interested in Nature Travel are invited to attend this annual gathering.  Bring a dish to share (appetizers, main dishes, salads, sides or desserts – ANS provides the beverages). We'll look back at past ANS trips and look forward to those ahead. Bring a friend!  RSVP to Carol Hayes by February 19. 

Special Girl Scout Program at Rust, Monday, Feb. 17
Frosted branchThe Girl Scouts teamed up with ANS to offer Winter Wilderness Wonders, a special program just for Girl Scouts and their non-Girl Scout friends at Rust Nature Sanctuary on Monday, February 17, a day off from school. The girls will look for signs of animals and adaptations they use to survive the winter and get up close and personal with skulls and scat. Sign up today

Preschool classJust seven short years ago, the Audubon Nature Preschool started with space for 15. Today, we have space for 70, and we've taken our admissions process online!  Apply online today.  And, join us for our last open house for the 2014-2015 school year, Saturday, February 8, 9:30 to 11 am. No reservations necessary and children are encouraged to attend.
